What Is the BAJUS Gold Rate?
BAJUS — the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association) — is the organised trade body that publishes reference gold rates its member jewellers across Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, and Rajshahi align their shop-window boards to. When people in Bangladesh search for the “BAJUS gold rate today,” they want the current per-vori and per-gram price for 22K and 24K gold in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT).
For an always-current estimate of today’s rates, see our live Bangladesh gold price page (also available in Bangla — আজকের সোনার দাম). Those pages convert the international spot price into BDT in real time and add a modelled local retail premium, so the numbers move throughout the day as global gold and the taka exchange rate change.
How BAJUS Sets the Daily Gold Rate
BAJUS does not invent a price from nothing. Its rate committee tracks the international gold spot price (XAU/USD), converts it using the prevailing USD/BDT interbank exchange rate, and layers on local costs — import duty, VAT, freight, insurance, and the making-charge economics of the domestic jewellery trade. When international spot moves sharply or the taka depreciates, BAJUS issues a revised rate that member shops adopt within hours.
This is why a Bangladesh retail rate almost always sits above a pure FX conversion of spot: the landed cost of imported gold plus organised-market premiums widen the gap. Our estimate models that premium so you can compare a jeweller’s quote against a realistic benchmark before you buy.
Today’s BAJUS Rate Structure — 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K
BAJUS publishes rates by purity. The four purities that matter to Bangladeshi buyers are:
- 24K (999): 99.9% pure — used for investment bars and coins. Highest per-gram rate.
- 22K (916 hallmark): 91.67% pure — the dominant purity for bridal sets, bangles, and chains. Most retail volume.
- 21K (875): 87.5% pure — common for lighter ornaments and some imported designs.
- 18K (750): 75% pure — used for stone-set and modern jewellery where durability matters.
Because these numbers change every day, we do not hard-code them here. Open the live Bangladesh rate table for today’s estimated per-gram, per-vori, and per-tola figures across all four purities.
BAJUS Gold Rate Per Vori Today
The vori (ভরি) — equal to 11.664 grams — is the unit most Bangladeshi buyers actually transact in. When a jeweller quotes a bridal set, the price is built up from a per-vori 22K rate plus making charges and any stone cost. To estimate a purchase, multiply today’s per-vori 22K rate by the number of vori, then add the shop’s making charge (often quoted separately per vori or as a percentage).
Use our 1 vori gold price guide for a dedicated per-vori view, or the Bangladesh gold price calculator to value any custom weight in vori, gram, or tola.
Why Our Estimate May Differ From Your Jeweller
Two honest caveats. First, our figures are an independent BAJUS-style estimate derived from live spot and FX data — not the official BAJUS published rate, which the association announces through its own channels. Second, your local shop’s board may sit slightly above or below any benchmark depending on same-day gold moves, whether the shop has updated for the latest BAJUS guidance, and its own stock and margin.
Always ask for an itemised invoice showing metal weight, purity/hallmark, rate per vori or gram, making charges, and VAT separately. That transparency lets you compare quotes and confirm you are paying a fair price relative to the day’s benchmark.
What Moves the BAJUS Rate Day to Day
Four forces drive Bangladesh gold prices, often simultaneously: the international XAU/USD spot price, the USD/BDT exchange rate (a weaker taka lifts local prices even when global gold is flat), import duties and supply friction, and seasonal demand around weddings, Eid, and Puja.
